Stainless Steel Silos and Milk Vats

We design and build insulated stainless silos, milk receival tanks and process vats for dairies and liquid food plants.

Milk Temperature and Hygiene

Raw milk has to be received, held cold and moved into processing without picking up heat or contamination. The silo or vat has to hold temperature, agitate the milk gently and clean in place.

We build process silos, milk receival tanks and vats in 304 and 316 stainless, including 316L. Silos are insulated and cladded to hold temperature, fitted with agitation and CIP, and finished in our workshop with the ladders, platforms and pipework your site needs.

What Goes Into Our Silos and Vats

Insulated and Cladded

Silos are insulated and cladded in stainless so stored milk holds its temperature, indoors or out.

Gentle Agitation

We design and integrate agitators that keep milk and cream mixed without damaging the product.

Clean-in-Place

Spray balls, CIP lines and valves are designed in from the start, with spray devices placed so every internal surface is reached.

Sanitary Welding

Orbital and TIG welding give smooth, consistent welds on tank shells and sanitary pipework.

Ladders and Platforms

We build the ladders, operator platforms and safety rails onto the silo in our workshop, giving your team safe access to the top.

ASSDA Accredited

We have been an ASSDA Accredited Fabricator since 2009, including the Food, Dairy and Beverage category.

Silo and Vat Options

Each silo and vat is built to order for your product, site and cleaning regime.

How We Build Silos and Vats

  1. 01

    Design

We model your silos, vats and pipework in 3D and issue approval drawings, including access platforms and CIP routes.

  2. 02

    Fabricate

We build in our stainless-only workshop. Where a silo is too large to transport whole, we fabricate it in our workshop and assemble it on site, on request.

  3. 03

    Deliver

We deliver your silos to your site, anywhere in Australia, freighted from our Murarrie workshop by Russell Transport.

  4. 04

    Service

We carry out repairs and modifications in our workshop.

Questions About Silos and Milk Vats

For anything else, call (07) 3348 9444.

Can you deliver a silo outside our state?

Yes. We deliver to every Australian state and territory. Silos too large to transport whole are fabricated in our workshop and assembled on site, on request.

What sizes can you build?

We build tanks from 100L to 250kL in our workshop, depending on configuration, and larger silos are fabricated in our workshop and assembled on site, on request. Our largest, 1.9ML, was assembled on site. We size each silo to your intake volumes and site.

Do you build farm milk tanks and vats?

Yes. We build on-farm milk tanks and vats as well as processing silos and vats. Tell us your herd size, milking routine and pickup schedule and we will size the vat, the cooling and the agitation to suit.

Which stainless grade should we use?

Most milk silos are built in 304 stainless. We recommend 316 or 316L where your product or cleaning chemicals call for it, and confirm the grade on the approval drawing.

How long does a silo take to build?

It depends on the size, how many tanks and whether we build in the workshop or on site. We give you a delivery date with the quote.

How do you prove the CIP reaches everywhere?

We design the spray balls and position them around nozzles, agitators and fittings so the cleaning solution reaches every internal surface of the silo.
