Dairy Tanks and Hygiene

Dairy processing covers pasteurised and unpasteurised milk, butter, cream, yoghurt and cheese. Like all food processing, it runs under strict safety and sanitation rules and good manufacturing practice, so the equipment has to be easy to clean with nowhere for contamination to build up.

We build stainless steel dairy tanks, silos and vessels in 304 and 316 grades, including 316L, to suit your pressure, temperature, volume and capacity requirements. Our workshop fabricates stainless only, with no carbon steel work on the floor.

What Goes Into Our Dairy Tanks

Food-Grade Stainless

Tanks in 304 and 316 stainless, including 316L, with the grade chosen for your product and cleaning regime.

Clean-in-Place Built In

We design complete systems with CIP integrated, so tanks, lines and valves are cleaned without being taken apart.

Monitoring and Control

Systems can include monitoring so you can measure production levels and efficiency.

Orbital and TIG Welding

Orbital and TIG welding give consistent, smooth welds on tanks and sanitary pipework.

Dye Penetrant Testing

We carry out dye penetrant testing of welds in our workshop, to find surface cracks and defects before the tank leaves.

ASSDA Accredited

We have been an ASSDA Accredited Fabricator since 2009, including the Food, Dairy and Beverage category.

Dairy Tank Capabilities

Every dairy tank is built to order.

Our Process

  1. 01

    Design

We model your tanks, silos and pipework in 3D and issue approval drawings, including where CIP lines and valves will run.

  2. 02

    Fabricate

Our welders and fabricators build your tank by hand in our Murarrie workshop and pressure test it there before it leaves.

  3. 03

    Deliver

We deliver your tank to your site, anywhere in Australia, freighted from our Murarrie workshop by Russell Transport.

  4. 04

    Service and Repair

We repair and modify your equipment in our workshop.

Questions About Dairy Tanks

For anything else, call (07) 3348 9444.

Which stainless grade should a dairy tank be?

Usually 304 or 316, including 316L. The right grade depends on your product, cleaning chemicals and temperatures. We recommend one and show it on the approval drawing.

Do you build silos as well as process tanks?

Yes. We build silos, vats, storage and process tanks and jacketed vessels, from 100L to 250kL in our workshop, depending on configuration. Larger tanks, up to 1.9ML, are fabricated in our workshop and assembled on site, on request.

How do you make sure CIP cleans the whole tank?

We design the spray balls and CIP lines so the cleaning solution reaches every internal surface, positioning spray devices around nozzles, agitators and baffles so nothing shadows the wall.

How is the internal finish specified?

The finish is specified on the approval drawing, which you sign off before fabrication starts.

Can you deliver dairy tanks outside Queensland?

Yes. We deliver to every Australian state and territory.

How long does a dairy tank take to build?

It depends on the size and how much pipework and CIP is involved. We give you a schedule with the quote.
