Stainless Steel Mixing Tanks and Jacketed Tanks

We design stainless process tanks with the agitator, jacket and controls built in, so your product is mixed, heated or cooled the way your recipe needs.

Tank, Agitator and Jacket Design

The tank, agitator and jacket of a mixing tank need to be designed together. The shape of the vessel, the position of the mixer and the area of the jacket decide how quickly you blend, heat or cool a batch, and how evenly.

We design and integrate mixers, pumps and valves with the tank, and add jackets for heating or cooling. Every tank is modelled in 3D and approved by you before fabrication, and we can produce the design whether or not we build it.

What Goes Into Our Mixing and Jacketed Tanks

Integrated Agitators

We choose and integrate the mixer for your product’s viscosity and batch size, and design the mounting, seals and baffles around it.

Heating and Cooling Jackets

Jackets for steam, hot water, chilled water or glycol, sized to the heat-up and cool-down times your process needs.

Dye Penetrant Testing

We carry out dye penetrant testing of welds in our workshop, to find surface cracks and defects before the tank leaves.

Clean-in-Place

Spray balls and CIP lines are placed so agitator shafts, blades and baffles are cleaned.

Pumps and Valves

We design and fit the pumps, valves and pipework that move product in and out of the tank.

Design Only

We can model and draw your process tank in 3D for your own fabricator or tender, whether or not we build it.

Mixing and Jacketed Tank Options

Every tank is built to order.

Materials304 and 316 stainless steel, including 316L, and higher alloys
Capacity100L to 250kL built in our workshop, depending on configuration; larger tanks, up to 1.9ML, fabricated in our workshop and assembled on site, on request
AgitationMixers designed and integrated for your product, with baffles where needed
JacketsHeating and cooling jackets or internal coils, specified on the approval drawing
FittingsManways, sanitary connections, instrument ports, CIP spray balls and valve clusters
WeldingOrbital, TIG, MIG and flux-cored
TestingHydrostatic testing in our workshop, depending on the size of the tank, and dye penetrant testing in our workshop; any other testing your specification calls for (for example radiography, borescope inspection, riboflavin coverage testing, surface finish (profilometer) checks and material verification) can be arranged through NATA-accredited third-party testers

How We Build a Mixing Tank

  1. 01

    Understand the Process

We look at your product, batch size, temperatures and cleaning regime.

  2. 02

    Design

We model the tank, agitator, jacket and pipework in 3D and issue approval drawings for your sign-off.

  3. 03

    Fabricate and Test

We build in our stainless-only workshop and test welds and jackets before the tank leaves.

  4. 04

    Deliver and Support

We deliver the tank to your site and carry out repairs and modifications in our workshop.

Questions About Mixing and Jacketed Tanks

For anything else, call (07) 3348 9444.

Do you supply the mixer, or only the tank?

We design and integrate mixers, pumps and valves as part of the tank, so you deal with one supplier for the whole vessel.

Can you add a jacket or agitator to a tank we already own?

Often, yes. We assess the tank and confirm what can be added safely before we quote.

Which jacket is right for my process?

It depends on your heating or cooling medium, the temperatures involved and how fast the batch needs to change. We work this through with you and show the jacket on the approval drawing.

What sizes can you build?

We build tanks from 100L to 250kL in our workshop, depending on configuration. Larger tanks are fabricated in our workshop and assembled on site, on request.

Can you deliver interstate?

Yes. We deliver to every Australian state and territory.

How long does a mixing tank take?

Lead time depends on the size, the jacket and the mixer. We give you a delivery date with the quote.
